On June 18, Foshan Metro Line 3 was fully opened for service. As the north‑south backbone rail transit line of Foshan with the longest mileage, widest coverage and most core urban nodes to date, its full operation further improves Foshan’s urban rail transit network and injects fresh impetus into the connectivity of the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area.
Stretching 69.5 km in total, Foshan Metro Line 3 has 38 stations. It adopts 6‑car formation Type‑B automatic‑operation trains with a maximum design speed of 100 km/h. Upon full opening, non‑stop through service is available, effectively improving north‑south urban traffic efficiency and strengthening rail links between Foshan and core cities in the Greater Bay Area.

Within rail transit systems, numerous electronic devices for power supply and distribution, communication, signalling and monitoring operate under complex electromagnetic conditions. Lightning‑induced transient over‑voltage and surge impulses may impair equipment performance. Therefore, a complete lightning‑protection system is essential to guarantee safe and stable metro operation.
During the construction of Foshan Metro Line 3, Techwin Lightning supplied professional lightning‑protection solutions for the project. Lightning‑protection boxes and M10‑24 series power Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) were deployed to deliver reliable surge protection for relevant electrical and control equipment.

The M10‑24 units effectively suppress impacts from lightning‑induced over‑voltage and switching‑caused transient over‑voltage, lowering equipment failure risks and enhancing overall system stability. Matching lightning‑protection boxes realise centralised protection and on‑site installation management for field‑deployed devices, facilitating subsequent maintenance work.

Safe rail‑transit operation relies on a stable and robust electrical environment. Going forward, Techwin Lightning will further deepen its presence in the rail‑transit sector. Drawing on professional lightning‑protection technologies and extensive project experience, we will deliver more comprehensive lightning‑protection solutions for urban mass transit, high‑speed railways and integrated transport infrastructure, supporting safe and reliable urban transport operations.
